Groundbreaking Early Intervention
The Geelong Project is an innovative youth homelessness project, auspiced by a partnership led by Time for Youth with Barwon Youth and Swinburne University together with Geelong schools and community services. This initiative is funded by the Department of Human Services as part of the Victorian Homelessness Innovations Action Projects recently announced by the Hon Minister for Housing Wendy Lovell and the Department of Education & Early Childhood Development through Barwon Youth Partnerships with research funding from FaHCSIA Homelessness Research Partnerships through Swinburne University. This groundbreaking Early Intervention model is built upon community and cross sector collaboration The work of the team will be underpinned by Research and Development that builds new partnerships and pathways between schools and community agencies and develops common tools and approaches to assist school and community sector workers. The direct benefit for the Geelong community will be that many young people who have issues at home and school will be able to access greater support from an interdisciplinary team of youth, family, education and employment, disability, mental health and drug and alcohol professionals. |
